For somebody who has just arrived in the Netherlands it’s nice if, besides learning to speak some Dutch, they can learn something about Dutch practices and customs. The basic beginners course (A0>A1) teaches non-Dutch speakers more about the Dutch language and culture by exploring all sorts of themes and subjects. You will learn Dutch by playing various games, listening to stories and completing texts.
Each lesson deals with a grammatical subject alternated with plenty of games and the singing of children’s songs, and in every lesson a reading children’s books related to the theme of that lesson will be read aloud by the students.
The course consists of 13 sessions: 12 lessons of 2,5 hours each in the morning (9.30-12.00 AM) or in the evening (7.00-9.30 PM) and a final exam. During the break there are refreshments and lots of cookies.
Every lesson there will be homework. This homework is partly in the workbook and partly online on the e-learningsite. This will cost the student about 5 hours time. The total study load is 7,5 hours per week.
At the end of the course all students do an exam. They all receive a certificate of participation and an exam result.
We form special groups consisting of au pairs and students for the Beginner courses.
Personal attention for the students is important. The maximum number of participants is therefor 12.
The textbook ‘Kom maar binnen’ and the grammarbook ‘Het Fundament’ are handed out the first lesson.
