Advanced course A2-B1 part 1 & part 2
The focus of our Advanced course is to improve your vocabulary, accent, intonation, spelling and sentence structure. You will be working towards level B1. By playing games, listening to stories, by completing and writing texts, your vocabulary is extended, and you will learn to speak and write better Dutch. The lessons will cover actual topics such as the news, art, culture, and literature.
The course consists in total (part 1 and part 2) of 28 lessons of 2 hours and 15 minutes each morning (9.30- 11.45 AM) or evening (7.15-9.30 PM). The course has a part 1 of 14 lessons and a part 2 of 14 lessons. The lessons are once a week.
New students: For part 1 the intake is at A2 level and for part 2 the intake is at B1.1 level. Please contact us: +31 (0) 23-3040023. Our level check consultation hours are every Tuesday or Thursday afternoon between 14:00 and 17:00. You can also schedule an appointment via our website. We can’t guarantee a switch to a different level if, after the beginning of the course, a different level turns out to be better for you.
Advanced A2-B1 Part 1
In the first part of the Advanced course you will:
- expand your vocabulary
- talk about current affairs in Dutch
- improve your Dutch writing skills.
We will cover Chapters 1-4 of the lesson book Nederlands in Actie (editie 4). You can buy the book in your local bookstore or at Coutinho.nl
(In order to reach level B1, you should also take part 2 of this course.)
Advanced A2-B1 Part 2
In the second part of the Advanced course, you will talk about current topics, expand your vocabulary and improve your writing skills.
Chapters 5 – 7 of the lesson book Nederlands in Actie (editie 4) will be covered. Only by completing part 2, you will reach level B1.
After every lesson, there will be homework. This will cost you about 6 hours time. Your total study load is 8,5 hours per week.
It’s possible to buy an extra grammar module to improve or revise your grammar. Our online grammar module contains information from our grammar book combined with many exercises to put knowledge into practice. The grammar module can be purchased at the checkout upon registration.
The course will be completed with a Taalthuis exam, which has written and spoken components. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance (80% presence needed) and an exam result.
Taalthuis values personal attention for all participants. Therefore, the maximum number of participants for online is 9, and for face-to-face the maximum is 12.
